Following on from our recent features on some of the wonderful people in our community, we’re continuing to celebrate the St Heliers businesses recognised in the Orakei Local Board Business Awards.
These awards are a great reminder of the people and hard work behind the places we visit every day. From early starts and busy shop floors to local teams and community support, so much happens behind the scenes to keep the village moving.
This week, we’re sharing a glimpse into Four Square St Heliers, a local favourite helping keep St Heliers fresh, stocked, and well fed.
What has been your proudest moment in business so far?
Opening a brand-new format Four Square and building a team of over 30 locals, has been a hugely challenging, yet rewarding time. We were the first Four Square to open without tobacco and have a very high fresh share of sales, making our store unique in our brand.
What does a typical day look like for you in the village?
We receive deliveries as early as 5 am through our front door and work hard and fast to get our store fully stocked and ready to serve our locals. From 6 am, our chefs are prepping our free-range hot chickens, fresh salads, sandwiches and more. Throughout the day, we are delivering school lunches to four local schools, working on the floor with our team, meeting with suppliers, and always looking for the next opportunity to support our community.
How would you describe your space to someone who has never visited before?
Fresh, full and friendly! Modern, clean and wheelchair friendly too, with an exceptional customer experience and everything you need for ‘feed me now’ and ‘feed me later’!
Four Square St Heliers is a great example of the energy that sits behind so many of our local businesses: early mornings, full shelves, fresh food, and a team working hard to serve the community every day.
