St Heliers is full of businesses that do more than serve the community. They help shape it. As part of our Ōrākei Local Board Business Awards series, we’re continuing to share the stories behind some of these local favourites.
This week, we’re sharing a glimpse into Studio Pilates St Heliers, a local studio built around movement, confidence, and community.
What inspires you most about being in this community?
We have always loved the village feel of St Heliers. With Louise having lived in the area for over 20 years, opening our studio here felt like a natural way to give back to a community we genuinely care about.
The combination of the stunning beach and vibrant high street creates a unique lifestyle environment, and the Studio Pilates brand fits seamlessly within this diverse, family-oriented community. From the beginning, we knew we could offer something inclusive — a space where people of all ages and abilities could come, feel comfortable, and make Pilates their own.
What do you wish more people knew about your business?
That Studio Pilates truly is for everyone. Regardless of age, fitness level, or injury history, every person who walks through our doors is supported, guided, and empowered. Our mission is to change the way people approach exercise — removing intimidation and replacing it with confidence, education, and results. We want people to know that they don’t have to be “fit” to start — they just have to start.
What has been your proudest moment in your business so far?
Our opening weekend was a defining moment for us. After weeks of preparation, the support from the St Heliers community exceeded all expectations. People showed genuine interest, brought friends and family, and helped spread the word — it was a true reflection of the strength of this community.
We are equally proud of our instructing team, who consistently deliver exceptional care and continue to develop their skills to provide the highest standard of classes every day.
Studio Pilates St Heliers brings fresh energy to the village. They are a polished, welcoming space where people of all ages and abilities can build strength, confidence, and feel part of something local.
As you move through the village, we hope these stories encourage you to keep supporting the people and businesses who help make St Heliers feel like home.
Supporting local really does matter. It means choosing to show up, book the class, buy the coffee, share the post, tell a friend, leave the review, and keep these places part of our everyday lives. Small actions from locals can make a big difference to the businesses that give St Heliers its heart.
You can find Studio Pilates St Heliers in the village at 2 Polygon Road, St Heliers, Auckland 1071 and vote for them here.
