Collection: Robert Scriven
Robert Scriven started life as a freelance cartoonist and illustrator, numbering among his many clients some of New Zealand’s most influential advertising agencies. Due to the demands imposed by the requirements of his profession, he developed the skills to be able to produce work to the highest standard in a variety of mediums, techniques and styles over his thirty five years in business.
Today Scriven enjoys painting large scale single flowers or leaves rendered exquisitely in fine oil on board. Uniquely, the edges of the works are cut to the silhouette of the bloom which enhances the impact of his works and, being many times life size, allows him to explore and convincingly replicate, intrinsic botanical details and deliver subtle nuances of light and shade to the level of super realism.
In addition to New Zealand, Scriven’s works are to be found in private collections around the world including Great Britain, USA, Singapore, China, Switzerland, UAE, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.
