Collection: Harriet Millar

Harriet is an artist based in Christchurch who works with oil and acrylics.  She is inspired by New Zealand’s landscapes, flora, and fauna. Her interpretations involve substantial layers of paint, using bold and loose brushstrokes with hints of unexpected colour. In her workshops Harriet demonstrates her  methodology of using warm and cool colours to underpaint her images before adding ‘local’ or ‘as seen by the eye’ colour, thus creating a painting that appears alive.

Harriet has exhibited in New Zealand shows and galleries, and her artworks are held in private collections internationally.
