Collection: Maggie McGregor
Maggie McGregor is an Auckland based painter and printmaker. Her recent body of work has been driven by an exploration of gardens as inspiration throughout the history of art and as works of art in their own right. She relates to the words of Artist Mimi Lauter who wrote that painting ‘is a metaphor for our attempt to stay alive, to understand mortality and our own existence… and that is the same as watching plants grow and die. But as long as you plant something or paint something there’s hope for the future’.’
Maggie exhibits regularly at Railway Street Gallery in Newmarket and in group shows at other galleries. Her work is held in private collections in New Zealand and overseas and she has been a finalist in national painting and drawing awards on multiple occasions. Paintings from her recent exhibition: ‘Like a Painting or a Flower’ can be viewed on the Railway Street Studios website.
