The inspiration for this painting came from a sunset during a ferry crossing to the Coromandel. In this case it was from the photographic work of a friend. Light is always the focus of my painting, and as water and sky are the greatest emitters of light they are often my subject matter. That divide between the last rays of sunshine and the deepening darkness is what captured my imagination for this painting.
